My peeps from Vegas

So, as I sit here and sift through the mountain of WPPI takeout, i.e., brochures, pamphlets, and ads, I remember all those kids I met out there and how great it was to meet others with a passion like mine. It was my first WPPI and it won't soon be forgotten! Here are just a few of the great people I met while in Vegas,,,,
For starters, there is Troy from BluEye Photography in Austin, Coralee from the great northern territories of Canada, Araxi from Los Angeles, all around nice guy Jared from Denver, crazy-fun Toni from down under, Kari from Orange County and Nicole, a fellow Montanan. There are more folks but as of right now, your cards are buried with the takeout. Sorry about that, but you all know who you are! A quick shout to Heather and Jennifer too!!

Well, now I must pack and prepare for my departure in one week for a Honduras assignment, I'm pretty excited!!

9 Crazy days in Vegas!

I'm am beat,,,, so beat that tonight I can't sleep and I'm here blogging at midnight. My body aches and cries out in agony, but my mind won't rest.
It has been a great time and while I'm excited to be getting home tomorrow, I will miss all the fantastic people I've met here.
I have learned so much, not only from instructors and speakers, but from those fellow photographers who make up this great photographic community. In my next post you'll meet all these fab folks, check back!!

Vegas Gals

It's been a little harder to blog than I thought it would be. There is so much visually that I'm trying to absorb I can't narrow my sights down to just a few things, ugghhhh! BUT, I did see these two lovely 'ol gals walking down Freemont Street the other night with their walkers and beads. Made me smile.

Yesterday was the last day of the workshop and I was beat, went to bed early last night. We ended the shop with a shoot at the "Boneyard" and it was pretty dang'd fun.
I didn't shoot a whole lot but here are a couple from that time. The couple was awesome and it was bittersweet saying good-bye to everyone.

Live from Vegas!!

This is going to be a quick post as I only paid for 1 hour of internet, yeah, I had to pay which sucks!!
Anyway, it's been a busy, fast paced couple of days and I'm pretty tired but looking to another full day tomorrow :)
So, Tuesday we started the Anti with a pre-ception which was held at the Downtown, a cozy moody little place. Met some of the 'classmates' and had a few too many drinks.


After the party, we stopped on Freemont Street and snapped some shots of tourists snapping shots themselves.


The first day was full of info and in the pm we had our polaroid exercise. It was quite fun but I don't have a scanner with me
so I can't show you those shots ~(and i didn't take pics of the polaroids, duh) ~ sorry! More on that later. . .
BUT, today was quite fun. We started the day out shooting with a model and each team of about 4-5 had to complete a scavenger list of shots involving their assigned model. We had Kara and she was awesome, I only wish we would've had more time, although we were all getting beat down after about 2.5 hours in the sun. Here are some of my fav's from the exercise.


After lunch we got some teachin' on lighting, quite good stuff to absorb. Also learned how to take advantage of video lights, which was something I never had really thought of, but am excited to experiment now!


Tonight on our way back to the hotel I stopped and talked with this fella and he obliged on my request for a photo. Wish I could write more but my hour is about up! Check back again this weekend-we're moving to a hotel tomorrow that doesn't charge so I'll have more time to shoot the sh*t :)
